On our drive into Vermont we couldn’t believe the colours. We eventually pulled into the parking lot of a hardware store and took our first Vermont photo.

Although they were mostly on rural back roads, six of the seven covered wooden bridges we visited, including this one, were in regular use by cars.

The 3500km long Appalachian trail is a bucket list hike for the tough. While staying nearby, we walked a short section of the trail one afternoon, to visit a scenic lake.
In winter this area is used for cross-country skiing.
